You might think that our ML Series of machining centers are the same as other machines that have been sold over the past 30 years. We can't blame you for thinking so, but the fact is that our ML machines are completely different than other machines that look and seem to be the same. The ML Series of turning centers have been designed from the ground up and utilize features that make them suitable for practically any type of turning project.
They are extremely custimizable and can do anything a slant bed machine can do and much, much more. You can even outfit one with a barfeeder if you want! That is the secret behind the ML machines. Almost anything you can think of, an ML machine can do.
Add a power turret and you can handle turn/mill projects. Take advantage of the FAGOR control system to handle difficult threading projects. Oil and gas equipment machine shops love our ML machines! Six meter workpieces - no problem! You can even outfit an ML machine with a huge 355mm spindle bore to handle large bar stock and pipe. No wonder the ML Series is our best seller in the oil and gas industry.
Are flat bed turning centers obsolete? No! The development of slant bed machining centers has been based on two desires: efficient chip removal and suitability for high volume machining of small parts. Like horizontal machining centers, slant beds rely on gravity to feed chips into chip drawers or conveyors. Typically, slant bed turning centers have a small footprint and can be fitted with bar feeders for high volume work
They have their disadvantages, however. Slant bed machines get very expensive the longer the turning length becomes. This is also true for large diameter workpieces. The ML Series of turning centers incorporate entirely new design thinking; chips are efficiently directed off the bed and they are very practical for long workpieces.
Our ML machines are ideally suited for shops that see a variety of machining jobs and want maximum flexibility in a single machine. Anything that a slant bed can do, an ML machine can do as well!
